Martin R. Bennett

Martin R. Bennett earned his J.D. from Baylor University in Waco, Texas in 1995 where he served as symposium editor for the Baylor Law Review. He earned his B.B.A. from Baylor University in 1977.

Martin was admitted to practice in Texas in 1996 and is also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Texas Court of Appeals, 12th District, Texas Supreme Court, and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Texas. Prior to attending law school, Martin was employed as a petroleum landman from 1977 - 1993 and has been a licensed real estate broker since 1981.

Martin R. Bennett's practice includes:

  • Representation of businesses or individuals in the litigation or arbitration of disputes.
  • Representation of businesses and individuals in the purchase and sale of real estate, including preparation of real estate contracts, title transfer, and title examination.
  • Representation of individuals in preparation and implementation of estate plans, including Wills, trusts, partnerships and limited liability companies.
  • Representation of individuals in the probate of wills, and probate litigation.
  • Representation of businesses, including preparation of organizational documents, mergers and reorganizations, employment agreements, shareholder agreements, and other commercial contracts.
  • Representation of businesses in the acquisitions of competing businesses, including, negotiation and preparation of asset/stock purchase agreements, and non-competition agreements.
  • Representation of local oil and gas companies in the sale and acquisition of leasehold interests.
  • Representation of businesses and individuals in the division and transfer of mineral interests.
  • Representation of businesses and individuals in the collection of debt.
  • Representation of lending institutions in collection matters, advising lenders regarding issues of lender liability, and in the preparation of certain lending documents.

Martin currently holds memberships in the Texas Bar Association, Henderson County Bar Association, and American Association of Petroleum Landmen.
